Welcome to Dosbarth Melyn’s web page where you can find out about all the exciting things we will be doing this term and throughout the remainder of this school year.

I am Miss Lewis, the class teacher, and I work with Miss Keepings, our class teaching assistant. We both work together to support the learning of all the children in the class. If you have any concerns or issues, please see either one of us at the door and I’m sure we will be able to help you.

This term our topic is ‘How can I help?’ This is a Humanities based topic and has focused on Dosbarth Melyn working for our community in the Glenboi Big Bocs Bwyd. We wrote recipes, made soups and tasted them, before making ingredient bags to be sold in our community shop. We really enjoyed this task especially the soup tasting! We have also looked at the wider community and people who help us in a variety of situations, such as the fire service, police and refuse collectors. We have already had a talk from the dental service as well as interviewing the people who help us in school for a fact file task.

We are still doing lots of outdoor learning with Mrs Blayney on a Friday morning (non-school uniform allowed on this day) as well as part of our ‘Busy Bee’ challenges on a weekly basis.

Don’t forget your book bags every week – hand them in by Thursday and your child can have a new book on Friday for the week ahead. Reading is vitally important, so if this can be done at home, even for 5 or 10 minutes per day, that would support your child immensely on their learning journey.

P.E. will still be on a Thursday, P.E. clothes to be worn on that day please.
